Prof. Brahmachari is a distinguished scientist, academician of India. He served as the Director General of CSIR (2007-12). He is a pioneer of genome analysis using computational tools. He has been an institution builder and has led the transformation of CSIR - Centre for Biochemical Technology (CBT) to an internationally recognized institute of functional genomics and system biology research – the CSIR- Institute of Genomics and Integrative biology (IGIB) at New Delhi. He has more than 12 patents and over 155 research publications to his credit.
