State Awardee, Dr. Sanjay Sood’s rich experience (24+ years) spans various geographies. With a global outlook, he is one amongst telemedicine pioneers in South-east Asia. He has been a Telemedicine Consultant with World Health Organisation and an eHealth expert with United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.
In 2002, he led the team that developed India’s first indigenous Telemedicine Technology (Sanjeevani) at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Mohali. Dr. Sood has authored numerous world-class publications & articles including book chapters on Telemedicine and eHealth.
He is a recipient of numerous prestigious international fellowships. He has travelled to over 25 countries. Dr. Sood is the project Director of eSanjeevani – India’s National Telemedicine Service that has already served 1.4 million patients in 28 States and UTs and was recently adjudged India’s best innovation during pandemic. eSanjeevani is also one amongst top 12 innovations in public services and has been for nominated for the Prime Minister’s Award.
At present Dr. Sanjay Sood is chipping in to transform India into the land of telemedicine besides rolling out to be the world’s largest telemedicine system he is also working on the telemedicine system for the personnels of tri-services (Indian Army, Air Force & Navy). He is also conceptualising an intercontinental telemedicine system for the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, this would enable telemedicine services between India and all African countries.
Dr. Sood is working as Associate Director and is heading Health Informatics Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Mohali.
